Profile On The Doog
Fond Look Back At Iconic Striker
A two-page feature on Derek Dougan is one of the highlights of the seventh issue of the popular football nostalgia magazine Backpass.
The article appears in the ‘Remembered’ section of the glossy 60-page publication and concentrates largely on the striker’s eight-year Wolves career.
Dougan, one of the most iconic figures in Molineux history, also has a mention on page three in an insight by Alan Poole into the early years of TV studio punditry.
In addition, the new issue of Backpass contains obituaries to former Wolves midfielders Paul Birch and Neville Hamilton and has, in previous issues, carried several more pieces with a strong Molineux flavour.
Among those have been extended features on Jim McCalliog, Peter Knowles and Stan Cullis, plus lengthy tributes to the late Jimmy Murray and Jimmy Murray.
The magazine is now on sale at many High Street locations, such as WH Smith, as well as being available by logging on to www.backpassmagazine.co.uk or by ringing 07976-248102. Back copies are still available.
Backpass costs £3 a time but reduced rates are available for those who take out a subscription.
A lengthy article on a late 1960s Wolves player who was at the centre of some big headlines is planned for issue eight, which is due to go on the shelves in the summer.
