Homesick Kid Grew To Love Wolverhampton

Wolves Heroes are sad to record that the funeral of former Molineux reserve keeper John Cullen takes place at Bushbury Crematorium tomorrow. John, the club's keeper in the glorious FA Youth Cup triumph of 1957-58, passed away earlier this month at the age of 70 at his home just off the Tettenhall road in Wolverhampton.

Golden Nights That Deserved A Happier Ending

Competitive European football returned to Molineux in 1971-72 after a traumatic ten-year absence. During the barren decade, the fortunes of the club had sharply declined, including two seasons spent playing second-tier football after relegation in 1965.

A Poignant Sunday Date

Wolves All Stars make the trip into East Staffordshire next Sunday to fulfill a fixture in honour of someone they would view as a true hero. Mel Eves' side will be at the Oldfields Sports Ground in Uttoxeter to face a Uttoxeter Town select XI (kick-off 3pm).

Fan's Recollections Of Tough Defender

Our current 'Big Picture' prompted Wolves fanatic Kevin Jones to email us in praise of Roy Pritchard, the former Molineux left-back who is photographed one in from the right. The one-time Bevin Boy was born in the town we now know as Telford and was such a distinguised performer for the club across his 223 League and Cup games that his name became attached in the 1990s to their Young Player of the Year award.

Rafferty's Long-Distance Look-Out

World Cup Mates Together Again

Wolves' visit to Tottenham on Saturday is due to be marked by a mini reunion of England World Cup colleagues. A golf weekend staged by the country's 1966 heroes this summer led to an invitation from Martin Peters for Ron Flowers to be his guest at Wolves' next visit to White Hart Lane.

Wolves Were Right Pick For Proud Fan

This interview had to be shelved in mid-summer when I turned up on spec at Dale Rudge's school and discovered he was on a day out at Wimbledon. It was, by all accounts, an accurate indicator of his lifestyle. Two days later, he was off to the Pyrenees and has also taken groups of pupils on trips to St Lucia, the South of France, even Chile and Argentina.

The popular former full-back has agreed to step in as our next interviewee, so we are once more looking for questions from readers to supplement those JR will draw up himself.
