Neil Next Up For JR Talk-In
John Richards is going international this autumn with the next interview in his Player Q & A series.
At the suggestion of one of our loyal readers, he will be targeting Neil Emblen and asking him all about life Down Under, with particular emphasis on his growing reputation as a decorated coach and as the man in charge of the New Zealand squad at the Olympics this summer.
The ‘Oly Whites’ played games in Coventry, Manchester and Newcastle and Neil also had some valuable family time in his native south east before flying home.
He has remained involved in the international game in New Zealand since and looks forward to bringing Wolves Heroes readers up to date with his career.
“No problem,” was his cheery message when we approached him on the possibility of giving us some of his time, so this website’s co-owner will soon be making plans to Skype him and renew acquaintances.
“I joined the board at Wolves soon after Neil was signed the first time round by the club and always found him lovely company,” Richards said.
“He went and came back while I was the MD and I look forward to having a good catch-up.
“His career has certainly taken him in a different direction to many former players. He must have a great story to tell.”
If you needed any reminder of how far he now is from the club for whom he played 235 first-team games, consider this: When he was on his way back across the world from the Olympics, he posted on Facebook: “Halfway home. At Seoul airport…..12 hours to go!”
