Elsewhere on this website is the Legends section detailing all the men who have played 200 or more senior matches for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
We are now delighted to take the wraps off our Managers area, in which we list the club’s 11 longest-serving bosses – in other words, the only ones to have overseen 100 or more matches from the hot seat. Again, figures relate only to recognised peace-time competitions, with wartime football excluded, as are friendlies and the various local knock-outs launched in the 19th century.
The number above the individual’s name is his position in the list of longest servants while the number on the same line as his name is the total of Wolves games of which he was in charge. In the listing of ‘other teams managed’, there may be some blurring between posts stated in some record books as coaching positions and others which were very much the top job. We have endeavoured, as ever, to be as accurate as possible but will gladly listen to anyone who begs to differ.
