Birmingham’s Sports Argus for July 17, 1965 informed us that Wolves had attracted some exciting new
names. They included England schoolboy international Alun Evans (although they had an ‘a’ for a ‘u’ in his
first name) and Lancashire schoolboy John McAlle (they really butchered that one and had the legendary ‘Scouse’ down as Ian McCall).
