Charity organisations are heading for a healthy injection of funds from the new Wolves 1970s Scrapbook we have been promoting on this website.

The eye-opening publication continues to attract the most flattering of feedback as we move into the final month of Christmas shopping and we can only repeat what has been said over and over already: That it makes a wonderful present for anyone who followed the club in that decade or wants to learn a little about that thrilling part of the Molineux story.

In an effort to maximise the potential return for good causes, author David Instone is selling all copies himself – and is happy to meet interested parties for handovers at home games during December.

“I have a target figure in mind that I hope to be able to give to charities and obviously we are hoping this is going to be a very busy few weeks for sales,” he said.

“Because there is colour on every page and more than 500 Wolves photos have been used, the production costs were high but we are already well in profit. That means we will kick off the donations in January and are thankful to those who have already bought, loved what they have seen and spread the word.

“One guy was so impressed with what he found when he opened it that he quickly ordered 20 more copies. Another who bought one at the weekend has since contacted us asking for a further six.

“I have never had such a positive reaction as this to any of the Wolves books I have written. It is very visual, so fans who pick it up can immediately see what a lot of nostalgia it offers.

“We are still deciding which causes to support after announcing at the outset that 75 per cent of the profits would be given away.

“We would like to do something to support Geoff Thomas as the work he has done for Cure Leukaemia is nothing short of sensational but hospice help and other local causes will be high on the list, too.

“And we have the scope to do something for the Wolves Former Players Association and through the Wolves Trust, so we look forward to playing a generous role in a few weeks’ time.”

A Wolves 1970s Scrapbook is dedicated to two much-missed members of the Molineux family, historians John Hendley and Graham Hughes, and takes readers on a season-by-season walk through a decade in which the club won the League Cup twice, reached a European final and three other major cup semi-finals and went down and came straight back up.

Many of the photos are previously unused and unseen and are supported by fresh observations on a dramatic decade.
