Two more big names have been added to the Wolves night being staged next week in aid of the Mayor’s Charity Appeal just over the Shropshire border in Newport.
We recently revealed that John McAlle had kindly agreed to appear at the November 20 q & a evening in aid of local causes – now the veteran defender has learned that he will have Terry Wharton and David Edwards alongside him at the top table.
And, given that the trio amassed a huge combined total of more than 1,050 League and cup appearances for the club, audience members should be in for quite an insight.
Other prominent Molineux figures from both sides of the white line will be present at an evening for which tickets cost only £5.
Admission on the door, subject to space, will be £6, with Wolves Heroes’ David Instone due to act as host.
Next Wednesday’s event takes place just off Newport High Street at the Navy Club in Belmans Yard and is also being supported by a number of media personnel who have followed the club in various guises.
We breathed a sigh of relief when learning that Edwards’ FA Cup replay with Shrewsbury away to Bradford City had been arranged for the previous night.
He has also co-commentated on Wales games on Sky Sports since leaving Wolves and then calling time on his own international career – one that took in the memorable heights of the 2016 European Championships finals in France.
And now for the statistical breakdown……McAlle played 509 competitive games for Wolves (one more than most record books show), Edwards 306 and Wharton 242.
We look forward greatly to introducing them to an attentive and appreciative audience. Please email us or ring 07929-377549 for information about buying tickets.
