Scot Stars In ‘Memory Game’

Stadium Visits For Jimmy

Jim McCalliog is delving into his rich past to help sufferers of the illness that appears to be affecting more and more former players. The popular one-time Wolves inside-forward has been summoned for what might be called therapy sessions at two of the clubs in the corner of Scotland in which he now lives.

All Or Nothing

Crowe Excelled – Then Flew The Nest

Nothing pleases us more than to dwell on great deeds performed by players in the famous gold and black but we are occasionally prompted to hark back to what the same individuals accomplished in different colours. And one such case that came to our attention concerned Chris Crowe, the late forward who served at Molineux in the latter years under Stan Cullis.

Look…..We Haven’t Changed A Bit!

Meeting Time, Half A Century On

They signed as Wolves apprentices on the same day, played together in the club’s reserves and knocked about socially. But Alun Evans and Brian Thompson hadn’t met for nearly 50 years until being reunited close to their common roots by Wolves Heroes.

A United Front

Football’s Big Effort To Repair Shattered Morale

Where the music world now leads the way in the face of adversity and tragedy, the area’s footballers – including several from Wolves – featured strongly in the show of defiance following similar atrocities more than 40 years ago. Images of the Birmingham pub bombings will still be stark in the minds of those old enough to remember them but the human race’s enduring spirit was shown again when a subsequent rallying call among the region’s clubs was royally answered.

Explain That!

Fluctuations Of The Most Dramatic Kind

Supporters down the decades and across the country have routinely described their side as up and down. Not knowing what teams are going to do next is part of sport’s appeal but Wolves were genuinely in and out in the months in which they were trying to rebuild after the departure of Stan Cullis.

Hole Lotta Love For The Hibbitts

Ken Cruises In On A Happy Anniversary

It probably would have suited Kenny Hibbitt better if this had been a mixed foursome competition or something similar. Wedding anniversaries are always tricky days on which to try to escape with the lads to the golf course but the record-breaking midfielder managed the feat at Enville yesterday and showed the same dexterity in plotting a way among the prizes.

Dear Diary Entry 68

Ray In Reunion Mood

Wednesday, May 3: Again read with interest a feature in the Daily Mail in which Ray Aggio was seeking to make contact with friends from his youth. The former Molineux reserve wrote to the ‘missing and found’ section of the Saturday edition and hoped to be reconnected with mates from the 1957-58 Huxley Junior School football team in Edmonton, North London. Happily, he has had a good response and says: “I have already made contact with a couple of lads and been given addresses of a few more.”

Rutter Rounds Up His Revellers

Molineux Return To Highlight 65th Celebrations

Alan Sunderland, Steve Daley and Barry Powell have been targeted as possible guests for when one of their Molineux contemporaries reaches a landmark birthday later this year. John Rutter captained the Wolves side who reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final in 1970-71 but, while various team-mates went on to big things at first-team level, he remained unfulfilled at Molineux and had to move on for the long senior career he enjoyed.

Cast Adrift – Then A Story Of Success

A Future Shaped By Some Molineux Shortcomings

The Chinese know all about auspicious times; the best days, months and years to be part of something. I am not sure if they also have a concept of the exact opposite but that surely is how things were for the brief career of Richard Wood at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was the player on the lowest rung of the ladder at a club suffering the lowest ebb in their history.

Wolves And Their Changing Manager Habits

Summer Doubts A Sign Of Molineux Times

Recent uncertainty over the future of Paul Lambert has underlined that job security among Wolves managers is nothing like what it once was. If the Scot leaves, Wolves will be looking for their fourth head coach of the Fosun era – and that doesn’t include caretaker stints by Rob Edwards.
