Wednesday, July 1: Danny Batth is looking for a new club after deciding not to accept the new contract offered him by Derby. The 35-year-old centre-half played only ten Championship games in an injury-marred 2025-26 campaign but clearly feels there is something more attractive to him out there than what has been on the table at Pride Park. We wish good luck for what comes next to one of the strong-men of the Wolves line-up across 212 senior appearances and some six years.
Thursday, July 9: Good to hear that there is a Peter Broadbent feature, with photos, coming up soon in the Kent media. We were contacted by Matthew Hemmings of CommunityAd, who told us that production was under-way on the said magazine in the coastal resort of Dean, seven miles from where the late Wolves and England star was born and brought up. The man who went on to play 497 League, FA Cup and European matches while at Molineux started his career at Dover and then moved on to Brentford.
Thursday, July 16: Hats off yet again to Backpass for another wonderful read. Issue 97 contains short pieces on or by John Richards and Jimmy Mullen, a three-page feature on John Ward that has Wolves Heroes’ fingerprints all over it and outstanding pieces by Matt Eastley and Phil Shaw on Hugh Johns, the man on the other side when Kenneth Wolstenholme was telling us about fans on the pitch, the final being over and all that in 1966. Lest we forget, ITV also broadcast our win over West Germany live and the long-time Star Soccer commentator was their man at the mic.
Tuesday, June 21: Sad to hear that the mid-1960s Wolves youngster Alan Murray had passed away aged 76. The Teessider is much better known for having playing around 150 games for Doncaster and about 50 for Brentford but probably his biggest football achievements were in going on to assist his boyhood pal, Graeme Souness, on the touchline at Newcastle, Blackburn, Benfica and Southampton. He also had stints as manager and commercial manager at Hartlepool.
Wednesday, July 22: Met Mel Eves, by chance, on the Molineux Alley outside the ground (best not to use the phrase ‘bumped into’ when talking about a car park location!) and mused over the fact that it’s not much more than a fortnight now until the serious stuff starts again. He had not long heard about the death of John Farley and spoke warmly of having known him as a club colleague in the 1970s.
Thursday, July 23: A landmark day for Wolves Heroes as the number of views of this website in 2026 goes through the 100,000 barrier. Some of the current visitor numbers have been quite astonishing to us, with 1,400 on one day alone. Thank-you again to all of our readers for their interest, encouragement and support. And to our technical expert Chris Richards, a lifelong Wolves fan who came on board a couple of years ago and whose design expertise has done so much to boost our ‘traffic’.
Sunday, July 26: Was set the interesting task by a reader of identifying all the Wolves legends that appear on this magnificent framed collage (pictured left) from three and a half decades ago. Many of the stars shown are obvious but some of the smaller-painted ones are much less so….anyone prepared to email us and name a few names?
