Tim Flowers has made another match-day visit to Molineux as he continues to successfully combine his two post-playing roles.

The 45-year-old was part of an impressive goalkeeping entourage at Wolves’ victory over Leicester four days ago, when Mike Stowell and Peter Schmeichel were also present.

Stowell is goalkeeper coach at the East Midlanders, whose current last line of defence is the son of the Manchester United and Denmark legend.

Flowers has a foot in both camps, having launched his career with 63 League matches for Wolves and ended it with 54 for Leicester.

“I’m lucky enough to come back here two or three times a season in my work with Radio 5 Live and always love it,” he said.

“You don’t forget your roots and I have such happy memories from being here as a youngster.”

Flowers was summarising alongside Mike Sewell on an updates-only basis on Sunday, with commentary rights on the day being held by talkSPORT.

And the assignment came two days before he had further satisfaction in his ‘day job’ as goalkeeper coach of League Two club Northampton.

Since being beaten 3-1 by Wolves in the Capital One Cup, the Cobblers have won three games out of four and conceded only one goal in the process, the last of the victories coming at Dagenham and Redbridge.

The three points left Northampton just outside the play-off places following their flirtation with relegation last season.

Flowers’ boss at the Sixfields Stadium is Aidy Boothroyd, who retained his service when he was appointed nearly 12 months ago.

The Kenilworth product had previously had only nine matches in charge of Stafford Rangers as one of the successors to Steve Bull and Chris Brindley.
