Backpass Hitting The Spot

If you love your football nostalgia, may we at Wolves Heroes again strongly recommend that you take a look at the outstanding Backpass retro magazine.

The publication is now over three and a half years old and has this season upgraded from a quarterly to coming out every other month.

Wolves Heroes’ David Instone is among the team of contributors and has in the past compiled lengthy articles on Jim McCalliog, Dave Wagstaffe, Derek Dougan, Bobby Gould, Steve Bull, Billy Rafferty, Alun Evans and Wolverhampton-born World Cup final referee Jack Taylor.

In addition, journeyman striker David Cross explains the debt of gratitude he has to his lifelong friend Bobby Downes, the 1990s Wolves assistant manager who he got to know as a young midfielder at Rochdale.

John Barnwell, Eric Steele and Paul Walker are pictured in Peterborough colours with the Fourth Division trophy on a 1973-74 team photo and, likewise, Jim Barron and Ron Atkinson are seen on an Oxford team group from 1967-68.
