Wing Twins Relive A Golden Day
Divided-Loyalties Pair In Happy Derby Countdown
Former Wolves stalwarts Tony Daley and Steve Froggatt have warmed up for tomorrow’s big West Midlands derby – with an appearance at a Villa celebration event. The two wingers, who had long spells at Molineux after being brought across the patch by Graham Taylor in the summer of 1994, appeared this week at a function to mark the 30-year anniversary of Villa’s League Cup final triumph over Manchester United.

Cook Flying High Once More
Graham Turner was eager for updates on his former Wolves players and said quizically: “And I suppose you’re going to tell me Paul Cook is a strong disciplinarian as a manager!” Turner was by now in the autumn of his career at Hereford, where I had gone to interview him on camera for the 2006 Official History of Wolves dvd.
Poppy Day! Tributes Pour In For Kettering Legend
RIP Billy Kellock
It was brief, with a couple of highlights and an obvious low. Billy Kellock was in and out of Molineux in the space of six months in 1983. His death at the age of 70 this week, though, has brought fulsome tributes in the Northaptonshire town where he lived and settled. Quite simply, he was a Kettering Town legend and was honoured at the Poppies’ home game against Alvechurch this afternoon.
Raising A Glass To Braddy
Tribute Time For Popular Keeper
Further insight into the life and personality of Paul Bradshaw has been shared with us in the countdown to his funeral on Friday. We promised a fuller tribute piece after the sad announcement of his death nearly four weeks ago and are indebted to his good pal, Geoff Palmer, for telling us much more about the man who played behind he and other long-serving Wolves defenders for years.

Ouch! Cup KOs That Really Hurt
It often used to be said that the worst round in which to exit the FA Cup was the semi-final. Wolves fans will be waking up today to the realisation that going out at the last-eight stage isn’t much fun either. The common theme in the feeling of letdown is the missing-out on a trip to Wembley. In the decades when semis were played at provincial neutral grounds, defeat at that point deprived a club and supporter-base of a big day out at the twin towers.
Puzzling Journey Of Talented Keeper
Sky Blues Made Use Of Wolves Reject
I may have mentioned before my bafflement at the number of goalkeepers presently on the books at Molineux, especially as there are a lot fewer teams at the professional level these days. On the staff are Sa, Bentley, King, Moulden, Young, Storer, Amos, Benjamin, Hardy and Kibriya. Three of those are out on loan (Moulden at Northampton, Young at Buxton and Amos at Wolverhampton Casuals) but there is nothing new here in having such big numbers, it seems.

Special Curtain Call For Twin Towers Heroes
Just as we thought our full 50-years-on acknowledgement of Wembley ’74 was done and dusted, along came the wonderful reception given by the Molineux masses to more than half of the victorious League Cup line-up. From Bill McGarry’s heroic winning line-up against Manchester City, Gary Pierce, Geoff Palmer, Derek Parkin, John McAlle, Kenny Hibbitt and Barry Powell were present to receive a memorable ovation from the 30,000-plus crowd at the home victory over Fulham.
A Bounce-Back Like No Other
Cooking Up A Rare Run Of Success
Twelve months ago, Paul Cook stood on the touchline at Wrexham cajoling a losing side and wondering whether he was about to have his name added again to the long list of sacked managers. Dumped with indecent haste by Ipswich a year and a bit before, his Chesterfield side were tasting defeat for the sixth time in nine games (the other three were drawn) and he spoke about knowing he had to reverse the trend or face the inevitable.

The Only Way Is Up!
Saturday, February 3: Interesting to see Matt Doherty climb in among Wolves’ top 30 all-time appearance-makers these last few weeks. ‘Doc’ has recently found first-team opportunities easier to come by than earlier in the season and now finds himself headed by only 28 others on our list.
Today’s The Day – That’s Final!
Those Golden Memories, 50 Years On
What a contrast it was! On March 2, 1974, Kenny Hibbitt and Geoff Palmer milked the adulation of the gold and black masses packed into a near-100,000 crowd at Wembley. Today, at a special event to mark the exact 50th anniversary of that magical day, the duo were at a near-deserted Molineux, accompanying small groups of fans on VIP tours.
