Remember Andreas?
Anfield Hero Back On Wolves’ Radar
Eight years ago at Anfield, Andreas Weimann scored a terrific goal to help beat Liverpool and take Wolves into the fifth round of the FA Cup. On Saturday, he struck the winner that sets up the first Blackburn-Wolves meeting in the competition since the 1960 final at Wembley.
Plotting An Escape From Danger
When Life In The Dug-Out Becomes A Struggle
These are trying times for a number of former Wolves men on whom we keep a close eye in their current off-field positions elsewhere. While Vitor Pereira continues to enjoy a successful start at Molineux, the week has brought the end for Rob Edwards at Luton and Julen Lopetegui at West Ham – and one or two others are in need of an upturn in results over or soon after FA Cup third-round weekend.
Mike Not Going Hungary
Keane Appointed But Door Remains Closed For Stowell
Robbie Keane’s appointment as manager of Hungarian champions Ferencvaros will not lead to another overseas posting for Mike Stowell. The Irishman’s unveiling as successor to Dutchman Pascal Jansen two days ago had raised hopes that the former Wolves duo might reunite in Budapest.
Crunching Those Numbers
Catch-Up Time With Flier Who Scorched More Than Just The Flanks
Tim Steele arrived early from a business meeting, sporting a warm smile. Well, he always was quick, VERY quick, and unfailingly cheerful. Our chat began with a familiar Wolves Heroes enquiry: “Have we bumped into each other anywhere else along the way or was it at Molineux in your playing days that we were last together?”
Dear Diary Entry 159
Third Time Unlucky!
Sunday, December 1: More disappointment for Stephen Ward, Richard Stearman and their colleagues at Solihull Moors as they were beaten at home this afternoon by Bromley in the FA Cup. The televised second-round tie offered the Midlanders the opportunity for some revenge after the sickening two Wembley defeats against these opponents over successive weekends in the spring.
90 Today! Many Happy Returns To Double League Title Winner
Celebration Time For Decorated Inside-Forward
An unexpected message from a football fan in Oxfordshire has given us a handy platform on which to express warm birthday wishes to one of the last surviving members of Wolves’ title-winning teams. Colin Booth, who played 13 League games in 1957-58 when Stan Cullis’s men reigned supreme and and an identical number (plus two in the FA Cup) when the Championship was retained 12 months later, turns 90 today.
A Seriously Happy Christmas
Festive Lift-Off Is Like No Other
It’s time for a big festive statement……namely, that Wolves have never achieved a Christmas turnaround like the one overseen in these last few days by Vitor Pereira. They have had bigger and better wins at this time of year than the ones against Leicester and Manchester United but the new head coach’s opening two matches feel truly historic as season-changing successes.
Wath A Story!
Christmas Book-ing For Legendary Nursery
An in-depth book about one of English football’s most famous nursery clubs is on the way in 2025. Wath Wanderers clearly have a place in more than only Wolves history because the project is being undertaken by the South Yorkshire researcher-and-writer team of Chris Brook and Ashley Ball.
Managed To Succeed
Influences Galore On Doc’s Long-Playing Record
With his 33rd birthday less than a month away, Matt Doherty has too little time left to contemplate overtaking Geoff Palmer’s massive Wolves appearance tally of 496. But he has already made another imprint on the club’s landscape following the latest mass upheaval in the dug-out.
After The Unveiling…..The Gratitude
More Recollections From Anniversary Celebrations
Now for a much more upbeat side-story from one of the gloomier weekends in Molineux’s recent past….Following the Friday-lunchtime unveiling of that spectacular Wolves-Honved sculpture history and the evocative subsequent words from John Lalley on this website, we are delighted to add further reflections on not one but two ceremonies.
